Book of Faith

As you personally read through devotional books you probably note some specific pages for future use in public settings. I encourage you to post these notes in this discussion for the benefit of others. When posting please note the best scenario for each listing. For example I will start with the devotional book, "The Funny Shape of Faith:Devotions for the Rest of Us" by Arlene Flancher.
To entice people into Bible reading use the devotions on pages 93,157 and 203.
A devotion perfect for those embarking on a Bible reading plan is on page 21.
Devotions to encourage readers to continue are on pages 291 and 335.
And an excellent devotion to accompany the reading or study of Esther is on page 191.

Either on our own shelves or church library shelves are numerous devotional books. If we each share just one or two recommendations from a book we can develop quite a catalog for us all to use when leading devotions or encouraging others to lead devotions for meetings or other small group settings that support this initiative.

I use Bread for the Day. I don't see that any part is better than any other. It uses the reading assigned for the day (in the daily lectionary) and it's usually very helpful to me. When needing to lead devotions at any given event or place, I simply use the text, hymn and prayer assigned for the day. It's easy. And helpful.
