The Memorials Committee met on Friday and Saturday to put together all of the the items that came from our various Synods. I imagine that report will be coming to the CWA web site soon.

We were working with 107 pages. I'm not sure if all of those come through to the voting members or if the formatting will be different. Make some time to read through them carefully. There is a LOT of information in those pages.

Shalom,
Kay

I am a lay voting member from Metro Chicago. This will be my third assembly, second as a voting member. Our daughter, who is in the picture, will be with us for the first couple of days before leaving for her secomd year with Global Missions in Slovakia.
Looking forward to meeting everyone.

An interesting turn of events is that I'm on a Committee for the Assembly -- specifically the Committee that reviews the Memorials coming in from the Synods and brings them to the Assembly. I'm not entirely sure how I wound up on the Committee. I'm sure that I said I was willing to help in whatever way help was needed; although I don't recall a specific request for help on this Committee. Then I received a letter this spring with dates for the Committee meeting at the end of June! Yikes!

I'm looking forward to getting involved and starting my reading for the Assembly.

Shalom,
Kay

I haven't heard from anyone as of yet. I've just returned home from a long day out and about, so I haven't looked at it yet. Justin Johnson wrote a blog though, siting the fact that either side is pretty disappointed. An interesting Assembly it will be.

Blessings

Bobbie --

The statement is out, and I have already received an "open letter" from someone who is advocating for a particular stance and vote. Actually, I think I received the "open letter" before I received the embargoed preview of the statement.

I'm with you ... praying for the Spirit to be with us and in us as we work together in August and as we discern God's will for our community and the future of the ELCA.

Shalom,
Kay

Hi Everyone. This week the next draft of the Statement of Sexuality comes out. Wherever we stand or are processing we all want to do the work of God. I would ask that we all pray for all of our church during this time. We pray that Gods will be done and that He use us to glorify Him.

I also pray for peace in the church. For us to treat one another with dignity, love and respect, just as Jesus taught us. I feel blessed to be attending Chruchwide, but I also know that sex and sexuality is a tough topic for many people.

Blessings on all of our congregations, synods and the ELCA, as well as the rest of God's creation.

Bobbie --

My notes from 2007 show that we started around Noon on Monday and ended around 5:00pm on Saturday. My travels were that I arrived in Chicago on Monday morning and departed on Sunday morning. Allowances were made for people to stay over Saturday into Sunday, since many would not be able to attend the final sessions if they had to depart on Saturday.

It is my understanding that the Book of Faith Jubilee will be during the 2-3 days prior to the Assembly ... so probably starting on Friday or Saturday.

Shalom,
Kay

When is the Book of Faith meeting?

People who have been to Chruchwide before: Generally, what is the timing of the Monday that we begin and the Sunday that we end? Does Mon start in the AM? Does Sun end after a service? Trying to plan the summer and am needing some details. Thanks
