Book of Faith

When you pray, does God still hear it if you don't think about it? Like, if you're just going through the motion, does God still listen?

What if you're singing a praise song, but you are more worried about the way it sounds than the words themselves? Does it still count?

I need all the prayers I can get so most of mine are for me! Absolutely, God wants us to call upon him for strength, wisdom, and guidance.

soooo,....you never pray for anybody for anybody else????

I don't think there is anything wrong with being concerned about the way it sounds, as long as you are also concerned with the message. I think wanting your praises in song to God to sound good must please Him, but I don't think God cares if it's perfect. If only the prettiest birds in the forest sang, it would be pretty quiet.

I think God longs for us to pray even more! We could never overdo talking to the Lord!

I am willing to bet that God thinks we are praying for selfish things sometimes. I saw this saying on a plaque; "God always answers our prayers, sometimes he says 'yes', sometimes 'no', and sometimes he says 'you've got to be kidding!'"
That is the way I feel that God must feel about us sometimes. Just like a parent, when you hear your kids acting spoiled & selfish, you wonder "are these really my kids?"

well, i wouldn't know about the kid enalogy because i don't have any. ha.
anyway, do you think some people pray because they feel obligated to or do you do it becuase they want to? do you have to be on your knees?

I think sometimes people pray out of obligation, but it doesn't necessarily mean it's any less thoughtful. And in my opinion, you can pray anywhere, anyway you like. I only recall one occasion when I prayed on my knees.

I usually pray before I go to bed. I just lay there when I do it. I love to pray.

hmm. do you think some people sing prey?

PRAY!!! Not PREY!!!

Pray: (verb) to offer devout petition, praise, thanks, etc., to God
Prey: (noun) an animal hunted or seized for food, esp. by a carnivorous animal.

Anyway, yes people do! What are gospel and christian songs but prayers?
