Book of Faith

What are some song lyrics that have stuck out to you in your faith walk? They don't have to be christian songs. Like, this one's from Linkin Park:

When my time comes, forget the wrong that I've done. Help me leave behind some reasons to be missed. Don't resent me. When you're feeling empty, keep me in your memory. Leave out all the rest.

This reminds me that I will die eventually, but I don't want to be remembered for the bad things that I've done. As a christian, I believe in Jesus, which in turn leads to feeling free, which in turn should lead to me doing good for others (based off of the 3 parts of psychology: thoughts, emotions, and actions). I'm not trying to say that I want to be famous, but, when I'm gone, I don't want anybody having any harsh feelings toward me.

From the hymn "When I Survey the Wondrous Cross" come these words:
"love so amazing, so divine, demands my soul, my life, my all."
They always move me to tears, when I think how unworthy I am for the sacrifice of that love that was poured out in blood on that cross, and remind me of how much Jesus loves me, and all of us who love Him and try to follow Him every day in our faith walk....

Just some lyrics from East to West by Casting Crowns that have always hit home with me. But like Jim, I could be here all night.............

I start the day the war begins
Endless reminding of my sin
Time and time again your truth is drowned out
By the storm I'm in

Today I feel like I'm just one mistake away
From you leaving me this way

I know you've washed me white
Turned my darkness into light
I need your peace to get me through
Get me through this night

Can't live by what I feel
But by the Truth your Word reveals
I'm not holding on to you
But you're holding on to me
You're holding on to me

Lay down your sweet and weary head.
Night has fallen, you have come to journey's end.
Sleep now, and dream of the ones who came before.
They are calling from across the distant shore.

Why do you weep all of these tears upon your face?
Soon you will see all of your fears will pass away.
Safe in my arms, you're only sleeping.

What can you see on the horizon?
Why do the white gulls call?
Across the sea, a pale moon rises.
The ships have come to carry you home.
And all will turn to silver glass.
A light on the water.
Grey ships pass into the West.

Not even a christian song! This song (Into the West) came from the credits of The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King! Once again about passing on, but it gives wonderful comfort.

Like Jim & Tracey, I could be here all night. One that came immediately to my mind is a Christmas hymn: What Child is This?

Christmas Eve 1999, candlelight service, as a new mother holding my 8-month old son, the 2nd verse really got me. "...Nails, spear, shall pierce him through, the cross be borne for me, for you; hail hail, the Word made flesh, the babe, the son of Mary!"

It stuck me in a profound way. What a sacrifice God made for us! The realization was very humbling. Why didn't I get it before? Could be one of those things that one can fully appreciate, or appreciate better, when one becomes a parent.
