This is the image for the front cover of my novel which has been renamed, A Wretched Man, a novel of Paul the Apostle, which is based on his lament in the 7th chapter of Romans, "Wretched man that I am! Who will save me from this body of death?"

My novel, The Jewish Gentile, about the apostle Paul will be published this fall. In addition of a bunch of other stuff, I include posts on my blog, The Spirit of Liberal, about the process of writing. I added an installment today, part 3, for any who are interested.

I hail from Upsala in central Mn, but my wife and I recently relocated to Northfield. I have a bachelor's from Dartmouth, a JD from the U of Mn, and I also did post-graduate studies with the Benedictines of St John's in Collegeville Mn at their School of Theology. I practiced law in St Cloud for twenty-four years.

I will have a novel published this fall entitled, The Jewish Gentile, which is a "push the envelope", fictional account of Paul the Apostle and his ongoing struggle with James, the brother of Jesus. I also publish a blog, The Spirit of a Liberal .

in the BOF blog there is a fun test for "what kind of lutheran am I "
both my wife and myself took it and it's surprisingly acturate !!
God has seemed to push me to be more outgoing and writting and delievering what will be 3 sermons if you count the june 14th one I'm working on now !! I love to read ,not so much for others opinions but for their writting style and flare for words which I lack !! your project "why am I a lutheran " is really a faith story !!
I did one (just a short one for my wife) that I turned into a sermon last year !! would love to read your thoughts !!
keep us informed !!

I am a writer wanna-be who writes sermons and keeps a blog: http://faithincommunity.blogspot.com. I'd love to have projects and goals to get published in various venues. someone on my blog just asked me to write "why I am a Lutheran." that sounds like an interesting project to me.

I'm far from being a writer but love what other can do !!My primary writting has been to write 3 sermons (our small congregation uses lay people to fill in for our Pastor ) and write my faith story and to write several stories about family which has been included in a family book several of us are working on !! Hopefully being in the company of good writters ,some will rub off on me !!
thanks bruce

Dear all,
My primary writing is 'how to teach adult Bible study', composing lessons for adult Bible study, writing columns on reading the Bible, and writing daily devotionals. My goal is a book on the first topic.
Thanks for the comments.

Bruce --

I checked the lutheranwriters web site, and it seems to be working for me also.

RE: Other networks for writers ... I was recently invited to a site called LinkedIn.com. I haven't done a lot of exploring on the site, but there might be a network within the site that will interest you. My profile is at http://www.linkedin.com/in/kayrichter if you'd like to check it out.

Shalom,
Kay

Also, in response to a question from Bruce about writing associations--first, I'd want to make sure that it's clear that the Lutheran Writers Project is open to all writers--and readers too. As far as professional associations, that will depend somewhat on the type of writing; for 'serious' fiction and poetry, if you're looking for a group that's open to all, and gives a top-notch conference, and other excellent support for writers, try The Associated Writing Programs. No need to be in a program--many folks participate as individuals. Another excellent resource on the is poetsandwriters.org.
