Monday and Tuesday I led my first BoF Bible Study. I used part of the BoF powerpoint presentation as an introduction. Then we tackled Genesis 1. We have 17 people in the study. Not bad. God's Word is a wonderful gift.

Not sure if my membership helps with the challenge, but I am still a big fan of the Synod!

Sara,
I'm wondering if you might share your idea in the "Conversations" folder as well. That appears to be the place where we are aggragating all the good ideas. One conversation is specifically for that purpose.

Sara,
I'm pleased that you shared our creative idea both here and on Mark's page. As I wrote today in my synod newsletter article, we have two friendly competitions going now around the Book of Faith. One Duane noted below - simple number of registered congregations/users. Second is my challenge to our partner synod resource center director Karen Matthias-Long to see which one of our synods posts the greatest number of creative Bible study ideas. I'd like to win both competitions.

Bishop Dave Zellmer (South Dakota Synod) and I are going to have a friendly contest to see which synod can sign up the most people and congregations to the online part of BoF. Help me out! dcp

I am missing all of you gathered at Telemark tonight. Your friends at the NEMN synod have scheduled their Fall Theological event for the same time, so I am with them near Grand Rapids, MN at Sugar Lake Lodge. I know Kirsten Patterson will take good care of all of you and answer any Augsburg Fortress questions you have.
Please be safe and enjoy your relaxation and time together.

Adults learn in different ways. Think of all the multiple intelligences! Here is an idea for "studying" the Psalms - Gather together with your cameras and read and sing together a specific Psalm. Go out and take pictures of your community that resonate for you this Psalm. Come back together for (coffee, tea, wine, beer, bars, cookies, jello) fellowship and share with each other your pictures as you say or sing the Psalm. The Psalm becomes alive and part of your life.

Sara, after the Fall Ministry Retreat, where we can feature this site, let's be intentional about picking some discussion topics. One thing to think about - great ideas should not be buried/housed only in our synod site, which is private. We'll want to make sure we encourage folks (or do it ourselves) to post ideas on the public side of this Ning site.
Thanks for your willingness to demonstrate how to use the site at our retreat. I think you'll be up on Monday AM.

I will be attending your Theological event at the end of this month and I am looking forward to present to you some resources and tools from Augsburg Fortress.
Grace & Peace
