This website is housing for events at Luther. It has info on hotels and also on-campus housing including a phone number to call.

Trying to arrange attendance at the Jubilee and wonder if there is housing at Luther Sem or if anyone has a piece of floor at their hotel.

We did our website through Trivent - no cost, easy to use, you just need to know that their ads will show up across the top. They have an easy option that you could post the weekly readings that the synod has been sending. You could also link to say Luther Sem's daily devotion, the ELCA's Today's Bible Reading or Today's Bible Verse.

I am trying to rebuild my congregation's website. How might I include BoF as a part of it. Perhaps add a BoF page on the site so visitors can do the readings?
Any suggestions on this or on ftp or html programs etc. Free if possible. Basically I am trying to be the congregation WEBMASTER. That sound ominous.

Thanks
Kent

Kent ... this is a response to your email to SWMN Synod members. In my situation, the congregations have not done investigation into the BoF much (when I express frustration that we can't see to get people interested in reading it, some of the "old times" tell me that's alright, I'm not the first pastor who has tried.) ... the youth don't have much of a model to follow. Our confirmation material (Faith Inkubators) does not delve into the Biblical stories, just simply bible verses to reinforce the session's point. And, with school and sports programs chewing up time, there is little encouragement to spend time with the BoF. While I have been putting the reading schedule into our newsletter (and many older members tell me they enjoy the reading schedule), I am finding younger folks these days don't hardly know the "stories." So my concern is that there seems to be developing a "proof point" use of the scripture that misses the story of faith and life with God. So, I'm beginning to turn my sermons into explanations behind the text (which is making them a bit longer). I will have to see how that plays out through the summer.

I did not start printing the daily readings previously. However, January 1st it looks like we start over with Matthew (for the first 28 days - then a reading from 1st or 2nd Peter. That's when I'm going to get the people from the congregations I serve switched over to these readings. We've been doing the daily lectionary readings - just a few verses each day. These chapter a day readings will demand more time, though I doubt that time is the biggest obstacle!

Some of us are just "lurkers" I guess. As we begin a new lectionary year, I am wondering what if anything some of you might be planning regarding the gospel of Mark. When I was serving in northern Minnesota, our local ministerial had an actor from the Twin Cities (who happened to be in northern Minnesota for a local production of Dickens' Christmas Carol) present a one person monologue of Mark. It helped tie together the gospel of Mark as a cohesive story in people's minds, something most people don't catch with the weekly pericope readings. I've been thinking of having a public reading of the whole gospel of Mark in one sitting (It takes a little over an hour, as I recall.) But I am not sure something like that would have enough pizzazz to draw many from my parish.

If anyone has a better picture to represent the SWMN synod on this group's page, just send it to me and I'll change it. I simply pulled the map off the synod website as a place holder until something better could be found, so I'm open to suggestions for something else.
