Bernita,
I really appreciate your leading us in this experiment of Bible study online. Your summary lays out many good points for using this tool, personal invitation, small size, perhaps starting with a group that already know each other... Thank y…

There are so many memorable words and phrases in the final chapter of Philippians. I have returned time and again to the words in verse 6: "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your…
Thanks, Bernita, for leading us in this thoughtful study.
Rejoicing certainly is throughout this chapter. What a comfort and word for us. I need to be reminded often to rejoice, keeping my focus on Christ's wonderful love and care.

Thank you, Bernita for leading this walk through Philipians.
Just a quick read of chapter 4 this morning... First, whatever poor Euodia and Syntyche argued about, I'm sure they would wish they had remained anonymous!
I appreciated Paul's thoughts…

Bernita,
Thanks for the update on what you are doing at Trinity. Wow - you are really doing a lot of Bible study!! Sounds so good.
Calvary will be having an adult Bible study on Wed nights, led by our senior pastor and using the Lutheran Study Bible. We still have a women's group doing some DVD Bible studies and our WELCA circles are very active in Bible study, but we don't have much more starting this fall - partly due to just getting a new assistant pastor 2 Sunday's ago, who will be doing more with adult educ when she gets more into ministry. So next spring we hope to do much more.
Any thing to encourage more Bible study is great! I wish you well in all you are doing in Yankton.

Bernita,
Thanks for the comments on the videos!! With our building still in progress at Calvary, we don't have Wi-Fy and so I can't show these resources (no money to buy!), but we hope to have the ability to show them soon. I will view at home those you suggested. I am highly encouraging Calvary to get Wi-Fy back soon!! If I tell our pastor how others have liked/thought them useful some of these videos, that may speed things along. (our Sanctuary building is behind schedule, was to be done middle of april - now looking at end of June)
Thanks!

i got your invitation and have joined the South Dakota Synod. Thanks for inviting me. I am maintaining our church website now, so if there is anything you want me to post there, please just email it to me or call me.
Bernita:
Sorry to take so long responding to your request to join LCR Marion.
I set up that group as a place for the people of our congregation to converse about faith and scripture with the security of knowing it would stay among our worshiping community. At this early point of this project I am reluctant to open it up to people outside of the congregation.
I am willing to let you into the group for a week or so to let you see what is happening and how it is going so far. I would ask that you refrain from commenting. Sometime next week I would remove you from the group membership. That would give you three weeks of conversations to look through and hopefully get a feel for how this format is going.
Bernita,
I'm glad you are taking the initiative on this! Sounds like it could work. I would be willing to be a participant, but I may need to travel to MN the first week in May to be with my sister - her husband is having further scans, etc then to see if what was recently seen on a brain MRI is his cancer spreading. The problem is, where they stay when they travel to MN (from the US Virgin Islands, where they live) does not have internet access, except if they drive quite away to a public library. (although I like to check e-mail anyway every day, so it may still work for me!!!) I need to keep this time frame free, in case she would like me with her while they decide what (if) to do any further treatment or not.
I may forward your thoughts Connie, who has been involved in teaching Book of Faith at Calvary with me. She may want to participate. Phillip. sounds good!
I would go ahead and plan on someone, me and/or Connie, participating.
thanks for doing this!!
Mary
