This is an excellent discussion - the difference between the and "initiative" and a "program" are indeed significant, and certainly offer fodder for conversations with congregants. I find that we in ministry have had so many programs over the year...

I've been involved in Bible study from the Lutheran perspective my entire adule life, first Bethel Series as a teacher and then Crossways! as a teacher -- many times. Like Ron, I am a "company man" and I appreciate the ELCA initiative.

- Chad, I have been asked to help lead an online Bible studay and I wanted to use the opportunity to introduce folks to the Book of Faith Initiative. I am reading the first book and the four sample studies in there. Do you have any experience with online Bible study? This is new territory for me, though I am familiar with blogs and instant messaging.
