I agree with you, placing the Bible open on our desks and homes is a great start to the conversations that take place. I keep mine open and it is amazing to see people respond to it. Sometimes you touch someone who truly need some faith conversation…
That's awesome. Breakfast and Bible talk. In my experience, you can't just tell folks "you need to read and study the Bible" and expect them to say, "Yeah! Let's do it!" I like what the neighbor does here by leaving a Bible open on the kitchen count…
Sounds like an exciting trip back. My was boring, sitting at O'Hare for 5 hours. But I got home in one piece, and got my book read by the time I got here.

Can anyone in the congregation sign their church up or do we have to go through the Pastor and council? I think this would be good for some Bible studies. Right now I would like to really go through the letter to the Romans since it is a big part of our Lutheran Heritage.
Oops! I didn't realize that I was reading Pastor Kay's comment...guess we have more people involved in Bible study than I realized. That was uplifting.
Will look at your site as time allows.
Our church is more service-based. We definitely have more "Marthas" than "Marys". That's fantastic that so many attend Bible study at your church. We have about 6 who attend.
I try to encourage more to attend. Frequently, I hear the people who are involved in service are just too busy.
I've e-mailed staff & Doug re: BFI, but not heard anything. As a member, can I just sign my church up w/o the pastor or staff doing it? I don't think they'd mind. I'd check w/ them first. Think it's more of a time issue for them than anything. Fill me in on what all I can do, ok?
Nice to hear from you! Glad that valuable center is still thriving. We're doing well. We've been here 15 years and still fill called and engaged. Sounds like the same is true for you. Blessings!
I'll send a message to Terri or Doug at church today to sign up. Surprised they're not already on.
Pastor Kay (Richter) is doing a "group" book discussion of "The Shack" through the BoF site, so that's how I got to it. I invited my daughter Shelly & her friend, Liz to join through the "invite a friend". They're in Indianapolis and go to Bethel Lutheran in Noblesville. I know their pastor Heather is already a member on BoF herself, but I don't know if their church is. What is the difference of having the whole church sign up or just the pastor?

Thanks. I will do whatever I can to encourage others to participate. I will also join the ECSW group. God bless!
