Profile Information

What is the name of your congregation / organization?
Luther Memorial Church
What is your role in your congregation / organization?
Cantor
What is most challenging about engaging in Scripture?
It is a challenge to explain Scripture from a Lutheran perspective since our society expects us to interpret it from a Fundamentalist perspective. This causes tension between Lutherans and other Christians, and confusion between Lutherans and non-Christians.
Share a Bible passage that is especially meaningful to you.
Psalm 8: O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!

Thanks for the add! I'm reading what you find most challenging... I grew up with a fundamentalist background, although my most meaningful spiritual growth occurred in the Catholic church. So I (quite naturally) find the Lutheran perspective comforting. But one source of tension lies in where Lutherans seem so 'on the fence' about so many things that a fundamentalist would label either one way or the other. Although the Lutheran ambivalence still frustrates me at times, I've come to appreciate the diversity, as we all can learn from each other. In my discussions with fundamentalists, we mutually conclude that each other's points of view are not "right" or "wrong"; they're just different. One Lord, one faith, one baptism!

Thank you much!!! Our band officially broke up when we lost two vital members to college... Talked about possibly doing a reunion concert... We'll see where that leads us! It was such an awesome experience and we all grew from it sooooo much! It was incredible!

Hi Erik! We are long time members of Luther Memorial who left a while back and now worship at Prince of Peace out in Greene Twp. I am serving as the Synod Advocate for the BFI and was excited to see that you had joined our group. I am looking for someone to serve as a contact person for Luther Memorial as I develop a group list for e-mail to help get info out. Would you be interested - or might suggest someone who would. (Maybe Bob or Pat Young perhaps?) Thanks, Pat
