Why did you pick "The Message" as the title for your paraphrase of the bible?
What is your take on reading from a paraphrase such as yours during congregational worship, rather than from a translation such as the NRSV?
I'll probably think of oth...
Jason, this ride/roommate forum is a good idea.
I plan to commute to the Jubilee, and already have invited Dick Bruesehoff to stay at my place, so we will both be commuting from Chippewa Falls, WI each day.
See you at the Jubilee.

Thanks Harry for taking time to post a sample of the excellent material that Crossways has available to congregations that are looking for resources to use to live into the Book of Faith Initiative! I've used your timeline for years in my Lay Scho...

Diane, this site is a wonderful way to play into cross generational Bible experiences. Why not take a peak and then get your own pile of legos and build Bible stories together. Better yet, film them and show them ...
Diane,
I think a great resource is the personal faculty pages at our colleges and seminaries. Here is one I use all the time, when I teach Revelation or Paul.

What is the name of your congregation / organization?
Northwest Synod of WI
What is your role in your congregation / organization?
Assistant to the Bishop and Synod Resource Center director
What is most challenging about engaging in Scripture?
Balancing my love of historical/critical tools to open up the Scriptures and my interest in helping people encounter Christ at their own pace when they study with me.
Share a Bible passage that is especially meaningful to you.
I have finished a short Bible study on Gensis 1-11. After teaching about the voices of "P" and "J" in Noah, three people came up to me to thank me for finally making sense of this story. BoF is really a God send.
Greg, Will you be attending the Western Mission Cluster Network next week in Carefree? If so, I hope you get a chance to visit with Scott Kiehn. He is representing our NE MN Synod's School of Lay Ministry this year and will do a super job of representing us! I believe his call story will be valuable to the group. Peace - Brenda Tibbetts, NE MN Synod School of Lay Ministry
Yes, a few of us are planning on attending the CC. Dr. Dennis Creswell from Central, I, Darlene, another staff member and our NT instructor Pastor Kay Richter are all coming. (Mentioned at our school how much fun we have and how could they say no?) :)
Alley (staff) and Pastor Kay are wanting to get a better understanding of lay education churchwide.
Btw, Pastor Kay started a "group" book discussion of The Shack here at the BoF website, which is how I got on here. Having a special interest group that invites others is another good way to get more people to check out the BoF site itself. Not that the BoF isn't enticing enough, of course, but most people just don't seem to be checking it out w/o that personal invitation. I know that I'm going to do a lot more promoting now. (Already got two more signed up from Indy yesterday.)
I pray you had a peace-filled holiday and that God will continue to bless you and Diane throughout the new year. See you in Feb.

Greg. Thanks for the message. I was, in fact, sick. I thought I was getting better on Wednesday when I left for Moorhead to work with synod staff, but I was actually getting a bit worse. You know how that goes. No fund traveling and presenting with fever, cold, etc.
I knew Linda would be excited to be a part of the Jubilee in whatever way she could participate. That's all great. And thanks for the advice about not mixing sabbatical with a speaking engagement. Paul and I took that to heart and adjusted my sabbatical dates.
Shalom,
David
Greg, I am learning how to use the BOF Ning. Sorry I missed the meeting on Monday. I look forward to seeing you on Dec. 15!

Greg,
Just wondering if you could give me a name? At the Book of Faith Jubilee planning meeting at Luther Sem, you mentioned the name of someone who you had brought in, I think from Colorado, to teach at your lay school. Did he/she do book of faith materials, and what was the name?
Thanks for your help!
