I'm on Synod Council, so I saw the Book of Faith resolution b4 it got to Assembly. Our bishop called for the nays (red cards) *first* and *then*, seeing none, said, "All in favor, please stand and sing the Doxology!" I had to laugh, though -- like what delegate to Synod Assembly would be so bold as to vote *against* a resolution encouraging us all to read the Bible more??!! Sometimes I don't like voting for things that are kind of no-brainers and which all churches are likely striving to do in some way, shape, or form *already* -- seems like a "gimmick" to sell new Bible studies. But that's just the cynical side of me. Mostly I find it exciting and figure, well, if it motivates a few new folks to delve into the Bible, then it's worth it.
Heidi,
So far, I think I'm the only one at Faith, but we haven't had an event yet. As a Synod Advocate, I think they'll get tired of my talking about the Book of Faith, but there will be lots of participation. You'll recognize lots of names.
