I Sound Like What?!

I never would have thought. I mean, literally, NEVER, thought it was true. Even with all my processing, and growing, never. Yes, I know I've been talking about and writing about how I feel God's call in my life more clearly every day, and that's true, but...I still wouldn't have believed it.I sound like a pastor. Now, what does a pastor sound like, you ask? I don't really have a list of qualities that identify it to me. I was given a recording of the service from Sunday, though (I led said…See More

Never Benn Unloved

This blog is based off a song by Michael W. Smith.Watch it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=spr9aCNdRbU~I have been unfaithful. Being faithful is something that a lot of people are going to define differently, because people define faith different to start with. For me, faith means putting my trust in God even when I'm afraid. It means giving Him that fear, and accepting the peace He gives me instead. The greatest moment of unfaithfulness in my life that I can remember, both to God and to…See More

Road Trip Tuesday (Number 5)

Tuesday this week was, as it has been, traveling day. PJ and I headed out to Lake Chautauqua Lutheran Center (LCLC) to talk with Lee Linderman, who is the director there. Before yesterday, all the people I had met with have been pastors, but the idea of this is to expose me to all kinds of ministry, and outdoor/camp ministry was on the list. The best word I can think of to describe Lee is unassuming. To be honest, he didn’t have a lot to say, but in his few words, I heard many of the same…See More

Profile Information

What is the name of your congregation / organization?
St. Timothy's Lutheran Church- Geneseo, NY
What is your role in your congregation / organization?
Sometimes attendee, constant supporter.
What is most challenging about engaging in Scripture?
I think the most challenging thing about really connecting with the words in Scripture is learning to distinguish between what God actually has to say to us and what we THINK He has to say.
Share a Bible passage that is especially meaningful to you.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him, nothing came into being that has come into being. In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.

Dear Me

Dear Kara,

You probably don't recognize me. Yes, we're similiar in height, since we stopped growing around 12, and in coloring (no, you'll never get a tan. Don't try). On the surface, though, that's about where the similarities end.

Don't worry about it. I barely recognize you, and if anyone could, it would be me. I think I recognize those overalls you have on, though. I remember them being a staple in my ninth and tenth grade wardrobe. I also recognize the constant presence of a… Continue

And He said "I AM"

Despite what Shakespeare seemed to think, names have a lot of power. It's why the parents of a child first learning to speak are so excited when the first word out of their babies mouth even somewhat resembles ma or da. It's why people choose to take the name of their partner, or to abandon it during a divorce. It's why, when spoken by a loved one, the sound of your name can touch your heart. Names allow us to show our connections to one another, and in doing so, they can hold love, hate, joy,… Continue
