What is most challenging about engaging in Scripture?
My greatest challenge is having the discipline to study the Bible on a regular basis in addition to the Bible study I do for my work as a writer for The Little Lutheran Magazine.
Share a Bible passage that is especially meaningful to you.
As I live with chronic illness I draw strength from Romans 5 1-5 that calls us "to boast in our hope of sharing the glory of God, and not only that but that we also should boast of our sufferings knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not dissapoint us, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us."
The Mark 10 passage where Jesus welcomes the little children to come to him is my favorite Bible passage.

Saw your message about online Bible study, sorry I am just responding now. Although I haven't participated in one myself, there are a few methods I have seen that might spur some ideas about how you could do one.
You could use this site as a place to host your "group" of participants. The group tab lets you build a place for your participants to post questions, have online threads and discussion, to host common documents, etc. It is easy and free, and you can set it up so that only the people in your group see the discussion and can participate.
Another option would to set up a blog, post the discussion topic or materials as a blog entry, and let the discussion take place through the comments to the blog.
I also saw this today - kind of a different approach to online Bible study from an emergent congregation. It might be interesting if your group is video capable.
Book of Faith is an ongoing initiative of the ELCA that will grow and develop—including resource options for you and your congregation. Be the first to know about upcoming resources and sign up for Book of Faith resource eUpdates.
