Last year, Augsburg Fortress published the Book of Faith Lenten Journey, a devotional centered on the Lord's prayer, for use during Lent or any 40-day study. This year, a new devotional is available for Advent, and another Lenten Journey will be a...
I have been at different ELCA events lately meeting Bible study leaders and participants (I've even met some of you!) and talking about Book of Faith resources, namely some of the new Augsburg Fortress resources that are available. I have really e...
Hi Kristina,
Any chance that I will receive copies of the new Adult Bible Studies in the next 10 days? Our Synod assembly starts on May 28 and I would like to have them on display.
many thanks,

We have begun a study over Lent using Rediscovering the Book of Faith and I just wanted to share a little of how God is using it to bless us.
The group consists of all ages from 7th grade to 80 year olds. The study speaks to each one. Observions:
.teens save nothing-the new testatment letters would never have been written if left to them
.the older you get the more things you remember of your youth-the less of yesterday writing
them down is a good thing to do
.we knew little about Deborah, but all about Adam and Eve
.a 12 year old and an 69 year old can talk to each other
.there is a unique wisdom in a 14 year old to explain the bible
.coffee hour talk has changed-to sharing events of the daily study (book of Faith Lenten
Journey) and prayer requests asked and answered, and even looking for a quiet spot to pray
for a need right then and there
On a personal note; as the teacher of the Sunday school class that contains our confirmands, a letter sent to me in 1973 when I was was a young adult struggling with my newly found faith and the life I was living. Sharing this letter with my class showed them that the relavencey of Gods Word does not change. The verse sent to me back then; Jer. 33:2 reminded me that when I call upon the Lord, He will answer me, that He will show me mighty things. For one of my students that ment that God knows what is happening in his life right now and is there with him no matter what.

Where did you live in SoCal? I saw you are working for Augsburg. How are things there? They terminated a lot of jobs and they won't come to the assemblies anymore. This must have a big impact on your life.

Just to let you know we had our first session using Rediscovering the book of Faith as an after church bible study. It has turned out to be the largest group of adults (which includes our 4 confirmation students) to ever gather for a bible study. It was a wonderful example of God's blessings. I forgot to count how many becasuse we were so busy. we had orignally set up for 22 but kept having to add chairs. the material was great, in a chuch that I would consider small we discovered that everyone really knew very little about each other. the material worked weel with the mixture of ages from our 12 year old to our 87 year old (who actually got to know each other) and share a story.
I am impressed with the material and how easy it is to work with. our group is mixed not only in age but in bible knowledge and it allowed each to learn and shere.

Hi Kristina,
I did finally figure out how to get the comment you left about Henry French, and I really appreciate that information, which I'll pass along to my folks. God bless you.
I was informed by Book of Faith that you added a comment on my page, but it has been rather frustrating to access anything using Book of Faith, so I'll send this comment to you, asking you what you left as a comment, if you might remember. I do know I was trying to find out something about the author of the Lenten Journey author, if that's a help.
Book of Faith is an ongoing initiative of the ELCA that will grow and develop—including resource options for you and your congregation. Be the first to know about upcoming resources and sign up for Book of Faith resource eUpdates.
