Welcome, Marie! I'm so delighted to see that you have joined us here! We would appreciate any encouragement you can provide to the good people of the Upstate New York Synod and the Conference of Bishops to join. Hi Marie,
I just joined your group basically to see if I still knew anyone from Upstate NY. I don't know if I you remember me, but I was a Youth Director for a couple of years at Holy Trinity in Jamestown with Pastor Paul Settergren.
I was a parish pastor for 6 years at Hope Lutheran in Fargo, and the 7 years at Good Shepherd in Moorhead, MN, and have been a chaplain with Hospice of the Red River Valley for about 3 years. My wife, Mary, is a Presbyterian Pastor in Fargo, and we have two children, David and Sarah.
I look fondly at my time in upstate NY, and felt that my time spend with pastors in the area really helped to prepare me for seminary at Luther.
My prayers are with you in your ministry as Bishop!
welcome Bishop! i hope you find peace here and a place to find people truly willing to talk about their faith and the gift of the Word we have been given.

Mama Bishop, don't worry, it won't be overwhelming to accept people as your friends (unless you acquire hundreds of friends!). It will NOT send your contact info out to a bunch of people.
I think you may get an e-mail whenever someone comments on your page--but anyone can do that, not just your friends, and you can ignore the e-mails (or maybe turn them off) if you are short on time.
When you log in, your list of friends will give you a way to quickly see what your various friends are doing and chatting about. And it lets other people see who you know and consider your friends--helping to place people in their social contexts.
We can talk more about this in the future if you like!
Peace,
Katie
