Why 153?

Often biblical numbers seem to run in patterns.  Perhaps in part due to the basic numeralogy of the times but some numbers are REALLY strange.  For instance why is it that often when scripture refers to fish is the number "153" invoked?

Created or Evolved......Yes

What does the ELCA teach about creation vs. evolution?Creation vs. EvolutionThe ELCA does not have an official position on creation vs. evolution, but we subscribe to the historical-critical method of biblical interpretation, so we believe God created the universe and all that is therein, only not necessarily in six 24-hour days, and that God actually may have used evolution in the process of creation. In fact, to deny the possibility that evolutionary processes were used is seen by some as an…See More

Greetings Rob -

Not specifically on Abrahamism, but one resource you might consider for eth "where did we come from?" is the Rediscovering the Book of Faith course. It covers more of "Where did the Bible come from and how was it put together", but has a great session on the Reformation as well. It is pretty foundational, but might be a good resource.

We are working on an adult education segment for our church. The theme is, "Where did we come from?". Abrahamism seems like one "split" that may be interesting. Is there any BOF materials and resources that we could use?
