Yes, tambourine players should be considered musicians. A tambourine player does need special skills, the first of which is being able to keep a beat. There are more skills, including many ways of playing the instrument. The nature of those skills m…
Rev Koeneke,
My apologies for not reading your reply earlier. And blessings to you as you prayerfully consider ways to place the Bible in the congregation's hands, whether it be during worship or, even more importantly, encouraging and nurturing me…
SO true. We have pew Bibles, but my congregation prefers "Celebrate!" since it is the "path of least resistance." Don't get me wrong, I like "Celebrate" for use during worship, but I would like to eliminate it and have the congregation actually use…
Hi Allison! I know, I should be getting some sleep already. Alas, I've been led into blogging temptation. [Isn't there a line in a prayer kinda like that?] Anyway, just wanted to say hello & wish you well. See ya later.
About me that reveals my views...? Some favorite authors: Annie Dillard, James Carse, Sue Monk Kidd, Frederick Buechner, Thomas Moore ("Care of the Soul"). Was raised in Lutheran Free church and Lutheran Brethren. Felt pressure to "lead my friends to Jesus" but truth was I'd rather hear about what THEY believed. Thought I would be a missionary but at Urbana Student Mission Convention in 1984 "heard" message: forget missions, get to know Jesus first. In early 20's fell in love with a non-Christian but my guts said he Wasn't going to Hell, so everything I had been taught seemed suddenly fragile. For awhile left "the church" and attended Unity... Unitarian... was secretary in an ELCA church... ended up marrying the pastor... and when the time was right joined the church - "home with new eyes" - I have called myself an Agonized Christian, and a Lutheran Universalist... have a whole lot of trouble with the "going to hell if you're not a Christian" mentality... enough for a start?
The notes on your page lead me to believe you are an interesting character, Allison Reno! Too bad this site doesn't allow for more of a profile to be shared, easily (as far as I can see, anyway)... Blessings on your day!

Thanks for your comment and words of encouragement, Allison
Hi Allison! I'm Mel's big sister from Arkansas. We were clowns together a couple of years ago in a skit my little bro put together... I'm back in Ohio staying with him until my knee heals up. I had knee replacement a month or so ago... I hope to see you at his ordination next week!

Allison, you are free to write here in whatever way works best for you. I just thought you might like to know that some of us reading what you write will think your are YELLING when you write with UPPER CASE letters. Thanks for being a part of the BoF conversation. Peace, pl
