Yes, I was there. Dr. Craig Koester did a fantastic job. I had him for one class in seminary. His classes fill up fast as you can imagine. I thought it was a good conference this year. National assembly should be interesting, too. I hope the press does a good and decent job of covering the issues.

I understand the "choices" issue...especially considering the size of your congregation in Bloomer. OSLC in Sun Prairie has a membership of 2,000+. Makes for a broader base of resources. You might be surprised at how people might come forward willing to teach something from their "expertise", knowing they are not going to be committed for a long term. Another course I taught, "Women of the Bible" evolved more into an art project than a lecture format. After introducing a couple of the notorious women, I assigned them to do dioramas of their favorite scene. One student commented that she wished there were more art projects in Confirmation Class. The success of the yoga and hands on art was due in part to that very idea of using the body, not having to sit still for an hour and a half! Good luck and God's blessings!

I think you'd like to have conversation with my husband Pastor Dave Berggren about the confirmation course...pastorb@oslc-elca.org or try to find him on BoF. I'm not sure how to advise you to reach him on this space...I'm still a bozo when it comes to navigating this site! Thanks for your interest!
