Grace, Corvallis Shares Advent Book of Devotions
Our Natural Church Development (NCD) team is happy to share Grace's (Corvallis) Advent Book of Devotions with you. This document can be found on the Oregon Synod web site at http://www.oregonsynod.org/bookoffaith/GraceCorvalls-AdventDevoBook.... We hope you find them useful.
We certainly had a great time working on these books--all together 57 of us, ages 5 to 85+, served as "eyes & ears of Grace" to write, illustrate, and design our little book. Many said they were honored to participate and everyone who said yes came through for us with their part. The writers were each given a day and the texts assigned for that day. Most followed the texts and some were inspired in other ways. The children were prompted to remember the meanings of Advent and Christmas, but drew (exuberantly!) from their own imaginations.
Once all the pieces were finished, we fit words and images together to design our book. The printed book has a medium blue card stock cover and white interior pages. Now that it's done we're finding an
eager reception and great excitement for Advent devotions! There's lots of "ohhs & ahhs," grins of recognition, and not a few stories being told. We've had many thanks and a few requests for extra copies to be given to friends. It seems the little book is already drawing us closer to each other, more deeply into Jesus and his story, and out into the world. Such a blessing!
