To my brother's and sister's in Christ, may he bring an abundance of joy to your heart and a warmth to your soul in troubled times. For it is only in Him that we are saved. -Amen
I have completed another packet of essay's and annotation's for my current semester and have two more to go. I have asked myself many things on this journey of understanding the Protestant Reformation, from a socio-economic view.
I have found that timing of Luther's writings could not have been better. The printing press just getting wide use, the written word, now available to the common man/woman. I find it interesting that so much of the reform had to do not just with religion, but with the weight put on the shoulder's of the common people...and the fight to survive, both the church and the faithful.
Indeed Martin Luther reached out to the Church for change and with commanding presence changed the world...what would he think of the Church today and would he change anything...have the values held so dear to this scripture based soul been upheld?
Interesting questions to fathom and not easy to answer. Putting into context our time in history, like the worth of the dollar, there is an ebb and flow to the journey of faith, which way are you swimming?
