Book of Faith

Over the last several years we have tried a number of different curriculums for our sunday school and confirmation programs .One think we have found lacking in all is there is no training in the actual church service!! In my class I have incorparated the altar colors ,church calendar, meaning for ringing the bell and candle meaning into my class but have meet some resistance from other teachers because of my "straying" from the scheduled assignments. Does anyone know of a good program that includes the church service training ??? and if so what grade level are they starting this training ?>??
Both our Pastor and myself believe we need to educate these young minds as early as possible so they understand what the service is about so they can be a part of it . But to get exceptance from all the teachers we feel it takes a written program and thats where you come in !!!!
Our education program runs from pre-school through 9th grade at present so any new curriculum we would add would ideally be a system of prgressions or steps to inshure our students are trained in not only the Bible ,but in how we worship !!

thank you for your help !!

p.s our congrgation is small and we use some combined classes for our aprox. 30 students total !!

I am a fan of the Kids Celebrate Worship series. It is a series of activity booklets that introduce seasons of the church year and parts of worship to children Preschool - 3rd grade and their parents. My favorite is Three Amazing Days.

Ours is about the same size. We are undergoing major shifts and starting the Spark curriculum this year. We have taught about the colors and seasons, it was a part of our time together for singing in the beginning, before they broke into smaller classes. There was an alter time and the colors would be discussed and which Sunday etc. It was quick, but it allowed for that discussion.

As a parent, thank you for teaching the traditions. I didn't learn those and I am so happy that someone has taught my girls. I think it's wonderful. And you can also amend any curriculum to meet your needs and the needs of your students.
