I am posting up-dated resources to support the
Book of Faith for Households of Faith focus.
All of these are available for you to use in your congregations.
A special thank you to Teresa Kaldor who compiled the top
52 Bible Stories list. She spent a great deal of time researching the most frequently included Bible Stories in storybook Bibles. Teresa is the past President of Lutheran Association of Christian Educators. She also promoted the
Households of Faith Covenant at the BoF display at their synod assembly, along with the 52 Bible Stories list.
The
Covenant for Households of Faith is an abbreviated version of a longer resolution for a congregation to challenge 75% of their households to become Book of Faith Households. (A tweak on the ELCA challenge for 75% of a synod's congregations to become Book of Faith congregations.)
And please, lift up storybook Bibles as being for everyone - not just children. Generations reading together is faith-forming. Giving a storybook Bible as a new member gift is a great faith practice. Dick just used his favorite to read from for a funeral this weekend with deep appreciation from the family gathered to say good-bye to grandpa. (A special thanks to Dick, my spouse, for all his contributions as well.)
Please share here how you use these resources and how you make them your own. And check back soon, as there are more ideas and resources to come. Watch here for exciting news coming from a congregation using The Jesus Storybook Bible for worship and all education on Sunday and during the week! Linda
