Hi Dwight! Yep, doing the pastor "thang" in Dickinson, Texas and spreading the books around. Got two now - ELOGOS is the newest one. Pedestrian Theology is my faith journey (reads like Annie Lamott's Traveling Mercies without the f-bomb) It is being used for a course at Trinity to help the students talk about their own journeys. Feels good to be "casting my bread upon the waters." Blessings to you and your ministry!
Dwight...question for you! My forehead is chopped off in my profile picture- is there a way to drag it down so it isn't like that? Silly question, I know...but I'd rather have a whole head on this interface!
Dwight...I think this is such an excellent idea...and exactly how I envisioned using BOF in my own congregation. Are you an active member of a small group bible study? And have to tried to involve them specifically? I read an outline of an internet book club that signed people up (agreed to be committed to the program)...and with each book selection, the leader wrote a brief introduction and posed a "starter" question. Each member had agreed
to respond to the question within 48 hrs...and then each member agreed to
respond to at least two other replies. That piqued my curiousity...and when
I shared the idea with a friend, she said that was exactly how an internet
course she enrolled in was handled. I know it could work! I have been particularly interested in a couple of READ THE BIBLE IN A YEAR programs
that have been set up on BOF. I think they are listed under CONVERSATIONS...or maybe BLOGS. Thanks again for your response.

Thanks Dwight. I think several BOF groups are languishing...but I am so excited about the possibilities...and will keep your synod's page on my radar. I plan to keep various examples of exciting uses of the website in front of my home congregation...through our monthly newsletter, a bulletin board display, and sharing with my current Bible Study group. I believe this will catch fire! And I'm looking into the training sessions in Minneapolis in August. Thanks for your response...and good luck with your efforts...

Dear Dwight,
Happy New Year! I am still not sure how to "get around here" on Book of Faith Ning, but I do so want to connect with people in hopes that I might be encouraged to do more with the Book of Faith Initiative at St. Paul in Winterset. I've mentioned doing a study with my Sunday School class and not too many people know what it is yet. I'm hoping they will agree to allow us to use the Opening the Book of Faith tool. I think it gives a wonderful overview of how most Lutheran's approach the scriptures. As you may know, we are in the process of calling a pastor. Pastor Duane Miller is our interim minister and has done a great deal toward getting us organized for improved functioning as a congregation/organization. Although, I assume that a new pastor would be in favor of and have great ideas about furthering our congregations exploration re: the ELCA's BoF Initiative, I am reluctant to wait any longer and want others to learn of the tools and perspectives available to us through this project. I already assumed that the information available (our newsletter and the Lutheran magazine that is sent out to each member) would put it on a "front burner" for a number of people. Not so. What is happening in other congregations? What do you have to suggest to a working mom of five, whose time is spread pretty thin already? Thanks for any direction or help you may be able to provide.
Interesting... not too many people know where Kensington is! My mom grew up in Topeka and when I was called here (from AZ where we have live for many years) asked me "where is Kensington?" What was/is your mom's name? Someone here must remember her!

Doing great! Wife Jane Lovro Kohn & I noted how closely XKing in Houston came to a spike by Ike. Am teaching Opening the BoF in Sunday School here in Lexington, SC, where I'm also serving as V-P of Synod. later

Hello, Dwight. I must be missing the right page to find that link. I didn't see your invitation anywhere, when I registered at the Book of Faith site. Could you send me the link? Thanks!
