I appreciate the encouragement, Linda- both for myself and for the Book of Faith. We could use another 1,000 of you spreading the word. I look forward to watching your videos.

Hi Linda! Good to hear from you. I joined this because someone who I know, R. Guy Erwin at CLU, had it on his Facebook. Imagine my surprise when after I was done setting it up I realized that it was an initiative of the ELCA! That certainly wasn't clear when I first took a look at it. Anyways, it's funny being a part of it, but it does let me bump into folks so I guess its good. Hope all is well with you and yours. Say hi to Jae for me when you get the chance.
Hi Linda...good to be on board with you and the bfi groopies! Pastor Lee and I were talking after our meeting yesterday about some ways to get families reading the bible together. I'll let you know what we come up with.
Thanks for the welcome. I will add to the GCsynod web site. We have about 14 people in our group this Fall. We have had three sessions looking at the first 3 chapters in the Book of Faith. We have had some great discussions. One of the participants talked about how chapter 2 of the book really answered some questions he has had for a long time.
We had a great time with chapter 3. In an effort to look at the Bible as literature, we used the parable of the Good Samaritan. I had different volunteers tell their side of the story to their families after getting home. It was a great way to get insight into the varous characters.
Our plan for the Spring is to do the four Bible studies in chapters 4-7. We will meet once a month from January thru April. We are all looking forward to seeing the new studies that are scheduled to come out in Spring 2009. I am also looking forward to seeing the new "Lutheran" Bible.
My hope is that as this group has gotten excited about the study, others will come forward in the Spring and we can start another group.
Book of Faith is an ongoing initiative of the ELCA that will grow and develop—including resource options for you and your congregation. Be the first to know about upcoming resources and sign up for Book of Faith resource eUpdates.
