James Homme
This video is one of eleven testimonials produced for the Northwest Synod of Wisconsin Book of Faith initiative. James Homme is a retired ELCA pastor. During the Korean war, Jim found himself occupying a forward observation post along the 38th parallel. "In the daytime it was a lark," Jim relates. "But at night, it was terrifying." Wow, what a powerful witness to the power of Scripture, particularly in a time when so many of our friends and neighbors are fighting someplace in the world. I had a flashback to the tradition of providing a NT which included the Psalms. That helps to make sense out of James comment about reading the New Testament and finding Psalms, which is part of the OT.
